The Stock Market Crash of 1929 brought many careers to an end, yet during this troubled time Mr. Edward D. Farrell was beginning his successful business career. In 1934, Mr. Farrell began what would eventually become E.D. Farrell Co, Inc. serving the material handling needs of both Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania. Few men have drive it takes to start as a stock boy and advance through hard work, and to eventually manage their own corporation. Mr. E.D. Farrell is such a man.
In 1934 Mr. E.D. Farrell began to sell Yale & Towne products in the Buffalo, New York area. Before the year was through he moved to the first floor of the walker building, and had the company operating at a profit the following year. The company later operated from 226 Delaware Ave. to 603 South Park Avenue in 1946 and the company was incorporated.
In the late 1960’s the business began management under Mr. James R. Otis. Mr. Otis grew the company rapidly which resulted in moving to 2180 Genesee Street in 1978 and expanding into Erie, Pennsylvania the same year. Continued growth resulted in opening a new facility in Jamestown, NY in 1994 and moving corporate headquarters to an industrial park in the Buffalo suburb of West Seneca, New York. E. D. Farrell Co., Inc. continues to represent Yale Industrial Trucks to this day as well as many other major material handling equipment product lines.
